Location

Dumfries has many interesting places to visit including Robert Burns House (where he wrote some of his best known poems), as well as the Dumfries Museum and Camera Obscura set in an 18th century windmill. Other historic attractions to visit in the area are Caerlaverock Castle, Drumlanrig Castle, and the Robert the Bruce stone at Loch Trool.

Outdoor enthusiasts can enjoy walking, pony trekking, fishing and the various 7Stanes mountain biking centres with the AE forest just a short drive from Southpark House. In the Grey Mare's Tail Nature Reserve you can walk to the UK's fifth highest waterfall. The Raiders Road Forest Drive is a scenic route through the Galloway Forest Park where you can often spot plenty of wildlife. The forest is also a Dark Sky Park thanks to the lack of light pollution which offers breathtaking stargazing conditions. The Solway coast and beaches are also just waiting to be explored. There are over 30 golf courses and driving ranges in Dumfries and Galloway, and Southpark House is less than 3 miles from Dumfries & County Golf Club.
