Ardmeanach House

Elegantly furnished Victorian villa with off street parking just short walk from the River Ness, Caledonian Canal and Inverness city centre.

Ardmeanach House has a choice of 5 ensuite bedrooms: 3 kingsize double rooms (2 with four-poster beds), 1 twin and 1 single. All rooms are individually decorated and furnished. One of the double rooms is on the ground floor (no stairs).

Set in a pleasant residential area and built in the 1860s, this historic property has links to the Bishops of Inverness. Guests are always made to feel welcome in this family home where you can relax in the residents' lounge/dining room and browse the collections of books, maps, CDs and DVDs. Your hosts are happy to help with recommendations for restaurants and pubs with live music, or tour bookings and local family research.

You can enjoy a freshly prepared full cooked Highland breakfast in the dining room overlooking the garden. Lighter options can include toasted waffles, savoury croissants, poached haddock, scrambled eggs with smoked salmon or a Continental platter with cheeses and cold meats.

Location

Ardmeanach is only 10-15 minutes walk from all that Inverness city centre has to offer including the Castle, Museum & Art Gallery, shops, pubs and restaurants. Ideal for walking and cycling, the Caledonian Canal and the River Ness with its picturesque bridges are both just a few minutes from the house. Eden Court Theatre and Cinema is also within walking distance.
Within a short drive of Inverness there are many historic sites including Cawdor Castle, Culloden Battlefield, the Clava Cairns and Urquhart Castle on Loch Ness. Your hosts can give you a map of Outlander locations in the vicinity and tell you about many of the whisky distilleries in the area. You can take a boat trip from Inverness to see the Moray Firth Dolphins or spot them from the shore at Chanonry Point.
Inverness is the start and end point of the popular North Coast 500 route. Day trips are also possible to the Isle of Skye, Fort William, Applecross, historic Dornoch, Dunrobin Castle, Nairn beach and Moray. In the Cairngorms National Park, you can visit the Highland Wildlife Park, take a ride on the Strathspey steam train or explore outdoor activities amongst the scenic lochs, forests and mountains.
