Douglas Park Guest House

Highly rated seaside Victorian villa with outstanding views over the River Clyde, situated in Dunoon on the Cowal Peninsula.

Just 1 mile from Dunoon town centre, Douglas Park was built in 1898 in the village of Kirn. Previously a doctor's house, it has been renovated and refurbished to a high standard with 5 unique bedrooms. Choice of single, twin and double rooms with ensuite or private bathroom and all have a smart TV and refreshment facilities. The 4-poster room is on the ground floor overlooking the courtyard, while the other 4 bedrooms are upstairs with views of either the sea or the garden. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout.
A warm welcome awaits from your host Ken and his wee dog Tilly. Tea and shortbread are served on arrival in the guest lounge which is the ideal place to watch the comings and goings on the Clyde. In addition to the local ferries, you can sometimes spot cruise ships and submarines, as well as seals, porpoises and dolphins.

Food

Breakfast is served in the sea-facing dining room at your own table. Choose from a wide menu with local produce used whenever possible. The buffet selection has a choice of fruit juices, cereals, fresh fruit, yogurts, oatcakes and homemade marmalade. Creamy porridge is made to order. A full cooked Scottish breakfast can include bacon, sausage, black pudding, haggis, tomato, beans, mushrooms and a tattie scone. The eggs come from a nearby farm at Blairmore and the bacon comes from Ardrossan. Lighter options include a toasted crumpet lightly buttered and topped with grilled bacon and melted Brie with a hint of sweet chilli. You can also try scrambled eggs with smoked salmon, locally smoked in Sandbank, a few miles away. Vegetarian options also available.

10% discount on stays of 3 nights or more.
Ken also offers Quilting Retreats for those who love to sew. These long weekends include 3 nights' accommodation with all meals provided and ferry tickets. Availability every spring and autumn.
