Montrose Basin Wildlife Reserve

The Scottish Wildlife Trust Visitor Centre provides high class viewing facilities through high powered telescopes and binoculars overlooking the Montrose Basin and tidal estuary. A wide variety of wildfowl and waders including pink footed geese, wigeon, eider, curlew, godwit and water rail. Perfect for birdwatching. Admission charge.

RSPB Loch of Kinnordy

The lochs and fens of the reserve are surrounded by farmland. It can be one of the best places in Scotland for black-necked grebes. Ospreys visit regularly in the summer.

Corrie Fee National Nature Reserve

Corrie Fee in Glen Doll at the head of Glen Clova, is a truly special nature reserve, famed for its rare and beautiful wild alpine and artic plants. Carved during the ice age, this beautiful glen provides a safe haven not only for plants, but also for the largest number of Ptarmigan per hectare anywhere in the world. The craggy outcrops provide the perfect habitats for Peregrine Falcons and Golden Eagles. Best time to see the alpine plants is between mid June and mid August, but the scenery is stunning all the time.

Newton Farm Tours

Named the Best Outdoor / Adventure Experience in the 2018/19 Scottish Thistle Awards for the Central, Fife and Tayside Region, Newton Farm Tours are run by family members who can explain about their daily lives and those of the animals. As well as sheep and cattle, meet Lucy the micropig or some of the mischievous goats, or try the Alpaca Walking Experience. You may even be lucky and see a newborn lamb, kid or calf and maybe enjoy the magical experience of feeding the lambs. Situated close to the A90 near Inverarity. A short drive from Forfar, Dundee and Glamis. You can even stay on the farm itself.
