The Town House

A 4 Star GOLD rated Victorian town house located in the city centre of Edinburgh with private secure car parking.

The Guest House is located in Edinburgh's city centre and within a 15 minute walk to the Castle. All the main historical attractions are easily accessed on foot, as well as theatres, restaurants, cinemas, conference centre and the open spaces of the Meadows and Bruntsfield Links where golf has been played since 1761.

This Victorian town house was built in 1876 as the Manse (Minister's house) for the adjoining church. Your hosts can also tell you about Scottish inventor David Theo Williamson who lived in the house in days gone by. The house has been lovingly restored and retains many original features over its 3 floors.

There are 5 stylish bedrooms (3 double, 1 twin, 1 single) which have been individually designed with and quality furnishings and luxury en-suite facilities. In the breakfast room, individual tables are laid with white cotton napery. You can choose from an extensive breakfast sideboard and a menu that offers freshly cooked Scottish produce taken to order including full Scottish breakfast, traditional porridge, local kippers (smoked herring) or fish cakes. Guests are welcome to relax in the large sitting room with a decorative ornate cornice.

Private car parking is available to the rear of the house. Separate cycle storage is available on request. The street is well served by local buses to/from the city centre. Edinburgh Airport is also easily accessible by bus, tram or by taxi.
A stroll through the unique and wonderful Georgian New Town (1760) is a must as it was here that Sir Walter drew inspiration for his early works.

The Town House is in an ideal location for an extended stay in Scotland's capital city. The Old Town is just 15 minutes' walk. There's plenty to explore including Edinburgh Castle, Holyrood Palace, Scottish National Museum, Scottish National Gallery and the National Portrait Gallery, as well as the Botanic Gardens, Edinburgh Zoo and Arthur's Seat. It is also the perfect base from which to access the wider areas of the Lothians and the Borders which are packed with historic sites and offer scenic countryside to explore.
You can also take the re-opened Borders Railway line from Edinburgh to Sir Walter Scott's home, Abbotsford.
