The Dulaig is set in 1.5 acres of private gardens adjoining open countryside. Built in 1910 by Alexander Marshall Mackenzie, The Dulaig is now styled in a luxurious blend of modern furnishings and Arts and Crafts antiques. Grantown on Spey is a historic Highland town just 34 miles from Inverness and 14 miles from Aviemore.
The house has been thoughtfully decorated and furnished by the current owners and provides 3 beautifully appointed ensuite bedrooms with Vi Spring beds (kingside, super-king or twin). Each room has satellite TV, DVD, silent mini fridge, tea and coffee making facilities, bottled water, chocolates, hair dryer, fluffy towels, bathrobes and luxury Scottish toiletries. Some of the ensuite bathrooms have a bath as well as shower.
Covid update for 2021: Only one party of guests may stay at any given time so you will have exclusive use (for up to four guests who are travelling together). Bookings are being taken by email and phone only (not via the online booking system) so that rooms can be left unlet for two days between any party of guests.
Breakfast is taken in the dining room overlooking the garden and includes a range of imaginative and varied dishes. Your hosts have won a number of awards, including an AA Breakfast Award in recognition of the outstanding food on offer - there is even a Cake Fairy which visits secretly every day to leave delicious home-baked treats for guests! You can unwind in the stylish sitting room in front of a roaring log fire. Your hosts are very keen gardeners - and guests are invited to relax in the garden which is a haven for wildlife including red squirrels and pheasants.
Your hosts won the AA Award for Scotland Guest Accommodation of the Year 2016-2017. The Dulaig is a "Top Pick for Scotland" in the 2019 Michelin Guide. The Good Hotel Guide lists The Dulaig as one of the “Top Ten places to stay for Whisky Lovers“ and selected it as Editor's Choice B&B for 2021.
The Dulaig would suit those looking for a luxurious Highland base from which to explore the Cairngorms, Aviemore, Inverness, and the Highlands including the world-famous Speyside Whisky Trail.
