Home Farm, Muir of Ord

4 star Gold Home Farm is located in the Muir of Ord on the Black Isle, close to Inverness

Home Farm is a recently constructed property on the Black Isle, a peninsula surround by the sea on three sides - the Cromarty Firth, the Beauly Firth and the Moray Firth. This meeting of different bodies of water makes it particularly popular with dolphins, seals and sea birds. Inverness is just a 20 minute drive away. Your hosts Sue and Stewart have been running Home Farm since 2003.

The B&B sits in over an acre of landscaped garden with views to the surrounding hills. Your hosts are avid gardeners and the beautiful garden can be enjoyed from several of the rooms in the property. Choose from 3 spacious bedrooms: 1 large kingsize double (ensuite) and a twin room with private bathroom are upstairs, and there's a kingsize double room (ensuite) on the ground floor (no stairs).

Food

Breakfast is prepared by your hostess using eggs from her own hens and locally sourced fresh produce including local sausages, bacon and award-winning black pudding and haggis. Breakfast choices can also include smoked haddock or kippers to smoked salmon. Sue also bakes her own bread (see short video at the bottom of this page).
You can also enjoy 2 or 3 course dinners by arrangement featuring the finest meat and seafood including langoustines and scallops caught locally. Guests are welcome to relax in the garden room, the lounge or the garden itself.

Location

Ideally located for touring the Scottish Highlands including Glen Affric, Loch Ness, Inverness and the Black Isle. You can spot dolphins nearby from Chanonry Point or take a boat trip to see them in the Moray Firth. Just ask your hosts for the best places to spot deer and eagles in the area. Home Farm is also ideal if you are starting or finishing the popular North Coast 500 route. Convenient for day trips to explore the scenic west coast, Inverewe Garden, Applecross and the Isle of Skye. You can explore castles such as Cawdor and Dunrobin, as well as distilleries including Glen Ord which is in Muir of Ord.
