This page provides answers to common questions about accommodation and booking.

A. Scotland's Best B&B's is a small marketing organisation consisting of  Bed & Breakfasts all of whom have attained the Four or Five Star rating through the VisitScotland's Quality Assurance scheme. This means that you can be sure of comfort, quality and excellent service when you stay with one of our members. Visit the About us page for more information.

A. Scotland’s Best B&Bs does not have a manned centralised booking system, however, we do have an Online Booking System which almost all our members have joined. This allows you to search availability by date for most, but not all, of our properties which can be booked online.

You can book our members in a number of ways:

By Telephone - Each member's listing displays one or two telephone numbers they can be contacted on

By Email - You can email our members by clicking on the 'Email Member' link on their detailed listing

Online - By clicking on the link on their detailed listing OR by using the 'Check Availability' Search Box

Each member's listing also has a link to their own website where you will find more information about their booking policies.

A. To call from countries outside the United Kingdom you will need to dial the International access code for your country (xxx) followed by the number of the chosen business without the leading 0.

You will need to dial 0044 1234 567890 – check with your local telephone provider for the correct access codes from your country.

A. Each member has their own cancellation policy which will be displayed when you make your booking. If you are concerned that you may have to cancel your booking for medical reasons for example, we would recommend you purchase travel insurance.

A. A room that has an en-suite facility will have a toilet and shower/bath facilities within your bedroom.

A. A room that has private facilities will have a toilet and shower/bath facilities close to your bedroom (e.g. across the hall) and will be for your exclusive use.

A. Scotland’s Best B&Bs businesses are small with limited or no staff except for the owners. Saying goodbye to the last guests and preparing the room(s) for you and getting in provisions for breakfast means that it is best to arrive after 4pm and before 6pm. When making your booking, your chosen B&B will indicate their check in times. It is best to make contact with the B&B owners if you are likely to be later than you planned.

A. Most members will have private parking available beside their B&Bs – please ask when you make your enquiry.

A. This website has information about public transport in Scotland in our Travel section and some members' websites will have information on local public transport and perhaps links to local and national transport providers’ websites. Members will also be familiar with local transport so just ask if you are unable to find the information for yourself.

A. There are two designated National Parks in Scotland - The Cairngorms National Park and the Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park. They are designated by the Scottish Government as special areas of national interest for conservation, biodiversity and for the enjoyment of all. They are internationally important and contain some of Scotland's most dramatic scenery as well as 25% of all the endangered species in the UK.
