Scotland's Best B&Bs
On the beautiful south side of Loch Ness, the village of Dores is well known for its beach which offers some of the most iconic and dramatic views of Loch Ness. The famous Dores Inn serves food all day and drinks by the Loch side.
Pottery House is a traditional style B&B built in 2001 with 3 spacious guest rooms with views across Loch Ness and/or the garden. Two bedrooms both have king size double beds, and the third room has a super king bed which can be split into two single beds if required. Each bedroom has a mini fridge, TV (with BBC Iplayer and Netflix), as well as large ensuite shower room with fragrant Highland toiletries, luxurious towels and bathrobes.
In addition to the stylish bedrooms, guests can enjoy delicious breakfasts including freshly baked rolls every morning, homemade preserves (from home grown fruit) and eggs from hens in the garden. Choose from a full cooked breakfast, full vegetarian breakfast or a daily special (different each day).
With Loch Ness at the end of the driveway, there are plenty of opportunities to explore the loch with boat trips nearby, as well as the famous Loch Ness exhibition centre and historic Urquhart Castle. Explore the less-travelled south side of the loch and discover the Falls of Foyers. Culloden Battlefield, Clava Cairns (Outlander connections), Cawdor Castle, the Caledonian Canal, Glen Affric nature reserve and dolphin watching on the Black isle are a short drive away.
The central location means much of the Highlands are just a day trip away, such as the Cairngorm National Park, The Black Isle, Ben Nevis and the West coast. Or you can rest here before or after your North Coast 500 road trip.
