The Auld Post Office cottage and gardens are nestled on the edge of eight acres of private woodland. Peacefully located in the far north of Scotland, famed for its dramatic and rugged coastline, sandy beaches, shimmering lochs and heather moorland. The area is rich too in archaeological remains with some of the best surviving brochs and chambered cairns. The sweeping coastline from Dunnet Head, the most northerly headland to the great sea stacks at Duncansby, are a bird watcher's paradise.
There are two ensuite guest rooms, each have French doors inviting you to the patio and gardens beyond. The guest rooms are decorated in a blend of Art Deco and contemporary styles. A separate Annex Suite includes a comfy sitting room, with a reclining leather sofa by the wood burning stove and a Twin or Superking ensuite bedroom. A leisurely, locally sourced hearty breakfast is served in the dining room with distant views across the moors. Delicious eggs are from the rare breed hens in the secluded gardens. A haven for wildlife where the planting has been carefully chosen to encourage birds, bees and butterflies and you may see a roe deer in the woodland.
The Auld Post Office is in a perfect location to explore the beautiful county of Caithness, where the air is fresh and the walking is splendid. Close to salmon and trout filled lochs, three links golf courses, horse riding and clay pigeon shooting can be arranged nearby. Quality restaurants are just a short drive.
